who's built it?
i would like to to know from those who have built them or heard them in person what they're like? is it more suited for smaller or larger gigs? chest thumps? anything else to say on the matter would really help me out. thanks in advance rafa |

Hi mate,
Iv'e built a pair of G subs. They are loud and really worth building because of ease. You need to let us know on the forum on the type of music and number of people you are playing for. Iv'e built the two for my house.    |

They look LUSHHHHHHH!!!! Nice purpley blue colour. Also what drivers did you load them with? Plus you gonna go for a full metal grille or round metal ones for an aggressive sound system look?
P.S: bet it shakes your neighbours pictures off their wall nicely.

Thanks man,
The colour is purple (Aldcroft) but it looks blue because of the camera. They are loaded with v1000 but if i had pd186 they would sound much rounder but they sound the dog bollocks now with the voids.
full metal grills would look nice.

To answer the original question, I haven't used the G-subs specifically
but have played with a lot of similar cabs. All relies on the
right driver/cab combination. Nice thing about reflex boxes is
they are simple, versatile and scaleable. Use one per side for a
small gig or a dozen or more each side for a festival stage.
Sound-wise, if you get the design right they're a nice balance between
punch and rumble. Good choice if you play a wide range of music
with a variety of different mid-tops.

Hi,
I built a pair a few months ago for a live band touring theatres / clubs up to 1000 people. They were easy to build and do a great job with lots of punch and good depth. A technician at one of our last theatres even said that the sound of the floor tom was making him feel nauseous
 . Must be doing something right! |

Looks very professional mate,
I want to get a pair too but not sure if to use V-18 1000s, PD1850 or PD186s.
I think I've read/heard that the 186s are designed for that can of cab & also that they do play rounder.
I use a lot of V-18s in various boxes & they sound tremendous.

I can fully recomend G-subs. I have built a pair, loaded with Jbl 2243 and driven off a crown VZ5000.
Easy to build, and a good all rounder! I've done all sorts of bands and Dj events and have always been complemented on the sound. |

I used to use some double 18's.
They sound great.
The reason I got rid was because of the weight though :(

Been reading the specs & aquired a couple of drivers I hardly hear about, & would like to know if anyone has tried the Wembley Loudspeakers made B-Line 800w drivers in G-Subs ?
I'm not clued up about the specs of drivers, but is it designed for use in a reflex cab or not ?

Well, the B-Line driver was designed for use in the B-Line cab, which has been talked about plenty here.. It's kind of like a mini scoop, or basically a reflex with a longer extended shelf port, I'd say similar enough in function to a reflex to suggest those drivers would do the job.
Reflex is usually more tolerant of drivers anyway, it's just a case of wether the volume/porting of the g-sub match up with the driver. If you have any simple cab design software you should be able to enter the B-Line specs (which are here somewhere if you don't have them) and see if the required volume/porting matches the g-sub near enough.
