So thought id get some suggestions here about what laptop i should look at picking up.
basically my laptop started overheating frequently even when used on solid surfaces and sometimes with nothing underneath then the other day just gave up completely now it just turns on gets to the Acer screen dies and then starts itself up again and dies the same thing over and over. Luckily took some insurance out so theyre taking it too look at it but they reckon theyll just be handing me the money to buy a new one as i had a few other problems. so in hoping in the next couple of weeks ill have around 430 from them and could probably add some extra myself if i see something worth it. i would prefer windows 7 but i use a windows phone so think it might be time to give in to it. will be using it for traktor/serato, ableton, sometimes in uni i have to do a bit of video and graphics stuff but its probably easier using uni computers for that. so yeah hit me with suggestions has to be new/reconditioned from a trustworthy supplier and probably 500 very max |

I recommended one of these to a friend the other day - basically an updated version of the 4540S which I've got - and am very pleased with. The Core i5 CPU is reasonably powerful (i7 costs lots more). It's only got Intel HD4000 integrated graphics, so no good for serious gaming, but should be fine for the things you're talking about. Windows 7 64-bit comes pre-installed and you get discs for Windows 8 if you really want it.

Try pcspecialist.com.
They are a little over priced but its a lot harder to create a custom laptop than it is a PC of all sizes. BTW the least you want is quad core with 3+GhZ around 6gb or more ram. This will cover personal use (Facebook, YouTube the lot) also be able to run your audio software good with plant of space for other background programs so not to bog your system down when tuning trackor or anything. Quad core with 6gb ram will do basic v editing. Nothing to big or complex like 2k or stereoscopic |
