Looking at buying myself some trussing this year, I've always hired in or had it taken care of by the light team on some events but tbh I wouldn't mind having a bit always around making life easy to do some smaller shows and corporate work.
It will be used for lighting weight not just decorative. What do people recommend? mostly hired Global or I think it was some milos. These good safe bets? Thanks

I use UK sourced F33 Global myself, with Prolight compatible spiggots. Keeps the compatibility options open if I need to hire.
Note that Thomann sourced stuff has different spiggots. If you shop around you can get UK stuff about the same as Thomann prices, particularly if you're buying a bit of it. |

Cheers Norty, yeah I kind of thought it would be Global tbh. Either UK F33 or F34 it is then :)

Good call on going with the Prolyte standard spigots, we stock the Milos quad equivalent.

What do your local companies stock? Going with what is available locally gives you an easy source of extra truss when you need it, and possible sub hires out when you aren't using yours

The main local stocks Global, a few smaller guys have what looks like ultimax. Bit further afield I'm fairly certain their stock is milos, but it's good to know what is more popular overall really.

Litec QX30s is stocked in huge quantities as it's rather cheap, and fairly useful weight loadings. It's not that great to work with, the spacing of the web makes it hard to get certain small movers (with two clamps) on to the truss nicely. Total fabs XO is lovely, great finish, lightweight but strong with it, but doesn't like rough handling or heavy handed crew. Both are available to me in huge quantities (ie the biggest stock of XO in Europe is half an hours drive towards London from me) at cheap rates, so personally I'd go with one of them. No one near me who I know (apart from Norty) or work for / with stocks global or milos, so that wouldn't make any sense to me. Your situation is clearly different....
