Looking for a compact subwoofer cab. Single 12" or even a double 12" if there was some clever layout to minimize the cab size (v baffle?) Or could even go single 15"

Will be used with my own design 8" + 1" tops. looking for 40 - 120hz but i could play the tops down lower if needed.

Must be cheap for the drivers. Its just a small system for the local pubs and bars and garden partys. Im currently using a single 12" + 6.5+1" active system and it handles it fine but im looking for something with abit more power and low end.

Mainly used to play Drum and Bass, Jungle, Liquid etc so the bass must be nice and low :)

Cheers peeps

40hz out of a cheap 12 inch PA driver? Good luck finding one.

Q12 or Q15 perhaps with ferrite BMS drivers?
This will certainly meet your "some clever layout to minimize the cab size" requirement.
Lots of info on the Q15 here:

Otherwise perhaps a tapped horn such as the Cubo which is very driver tolerant in terms of different types, more info over on Free Speaker Plans

Edit: add link to Q15 thread

Maybe a MTH-30 Tapped Horn with Thomann speaker 12-280/8-W?

Cheap and easy to make.

That driver looks interesting, but I have to confess I don't know how to derive a representative Xmax figure from that data, do you know what that would be please?
Thanks,
David.

Cubo 12 is not a 45hz box. More like 60hz.

They dont suck, they are quite a nice design. Just the Cubo 12 will not meet the criteria.
