BLESS UP TO ALL, I WAS WONDERING CAN I USE A FLAT PANEL AT A 45 DEGREE ANGLES, INSTEAD OF USEING THE CURVE WHICH IS IN THE PLANS OF THE SUPER SCOOPER, WILL THIS MAKE ANY DIFFRENCE TO THE B-LNE THE BINS ARE SUPPOSE TO MAKE, I HAVE SEEN SOME SCOOPS WHITH THIS DONE, JAH TUBBYS BINS USE FLAT PANELS TO MAKE UP THERE CURVE. OR IS THIS JUST BEING LAZY.

Can be done, I haven't had opportunity to hear enough scoops built that way in different setups and situations to be sure of the difference.. Many soundmen claim a flat angle will "throw" the sound a bit more and give it a kicky harder feel.. The curved scoop section is supposed to sound, well, rounder... Might just be another of those Soundman fables..

As a compromise a scoop section made of two angled pieces to approximate the curve would be more accurate to the horn than the flat panel.

I heard / read you don't even need any type of curve or slant in the mouth area & the box will still sound good.

CHEER'S FOR THE REPLY, I WAS THINKING OF DOING IT THIS WAY, INSTEAD OF USEING THE ROUND CURVE, AND SEE HOW HEAVY IT SOUNDS.

THAT'S RIGHT MATE, SPOT ON I HAVE NOT YET STARTED TO CUT THE INSIDE PANELS OF THE SUPER SCOOPER SO I MIGHT GO WITH THIS DESIGN. WHAT DO U THINK? THE BUILD IS FOR MY ROOTS SOUNDSYSTEM.
