hi everybody... i just tried out my 1850 horns today...wow...what more can i say! i only have two, with a pair of x12s, but the amount of bass is amazing!
i made my system as a school project, and blew my teacher away! everybody else just made tables and chairs and stuff....mine is definitely the loudest! nobody believed i could do it, but the sound savage and they are really good quality build. they were a bit beyond my budget, so am now in quite a bit of debt, with no income (i'm only 18). but still well worth it!!
i wanna build more....6 more would be nice!
i just had to get it off my chest, cos i'm still buzzing from it!
i'll try and post pics soon.

Good Man! Glad it went well for you. Did you load them with 1850s?
Pat: You moving away from the horn loaded route? What's inspired this change?

ive come to a conclusion that i actually dont ever play audiences bigger than 400-500, and the occasional outdoor gig doesnt need to be deafening!
ive always liked the sound of my pd186 reflex bass and 12"+1" reflex tops over the horns, just easier to mix, lighter, more versitile ect... going for 4x PD186 loaded Gsubs on a phat amp - works out 2ohm per side, and three X12's per side running 2ohm on QSC's (when i eventually purchase some - my plan for summer!). this way i have a nicely versitile rig, from a single pair of x12's on tripods to a large reflex reflex rig capable of a good 1000 people indoors. Also reflexs are easy to build so i can make something pro looking unlike my 186 horns!! thus im saving my back, transport space, and the inconvienience. excellent! |

Good skills, it's amazing the difference a proepr design with no corners vut makes in terms of sound.
Back when I was 16 I had bugger all budget as you do, and slowly built up from nothing to something and every cab I built got a little better in terms of build and design. It's good to see things develop ;) Enjoy your bass. |

My school Holland park comprehensive had a lovely 100v tannoy system with pressed steel 10" drivers.. in every classroom...
After goodbye cream live at leeds and electric ladyland came out.. many a school band was formed around 4 x 10" cabs, and 10" column pa stax etc often blackboards were known to disappear around the same time.. I dont think they ever worked out what was going on.......... |
