Riiiiiight,

So after a lot of searching, just can't seem to find much information on the Lab Horn (Might not have been looking in the right place, but the only topic on SP is "1850 vs Lab" and that wasn't even remotely helpful -_-)

I'm aware of the basics, 2 x 12" loaded, emmy Lab driver etc..

But, upon looking at the Lab driver, it's a 6ohm driver, so would I be correct, unless running each driver separately, it'd be a 3ohm cabinet? Are most amps even 3ohm Compatible?

Also, I've seen pictures of them with Ally Heatsinks, but surely, if they're coupled together, then you've just got 2 hot plates touching each other just making it even hotter? Or am I misinformed?

Thaaaaaank you :)

I believe due to the loading of the cab they actually have an impedance of 4ohm. They also do a 4ohm version of the driver now so can wire them to 8ohm though how the loading effects that I don't know.

Seems like all the LAB subs discussions are gone from there.

I know wiring two 8ohm speakers parallelis 4ohm, so how do you go about making two 4ohm drivers 8ohm?

Surely it'd be a 2ohm cabinet?

The Lab 12 was designed to be 6ohm as the loading of the horn adds to that to give a 4ohm nominal load (the impedance is not constant over the frequency range of a speaker ether..).

I think it's questionable if the ali plates actually work as a heat sink or not... my experience was the drivers suffered mechanical failure generally, not heat damage, when they went, though that could have been a bad batch of drivers (I seem to remember Eminence replacing one or two for me).

Reality is they are not a very practical sub, big, heavy, need a few of them...hard to transport (in the UK where we have silly laws on any transport over 3.5t) They do sound nice though...

Although in theory you need 6 labs together to make them work like they should I've heard less, even single bins giving a decent response inside.

That aside, they seem like a difficult build and I think I've lifted as many labs as I want to in my life (not that many). If I was going to get an enormous bass horn section I'd go with Terrahorns.

Terrahorns are very lovely! but rare though,

Was going for either wsx or lab, and the lab just sounds wonderful, problem i'm having is getting my head around the ohms :(
