When I switch the amp ON it powers on and then goes off straight away but if i keep the button pressed in then the protection lights goes off but as soon as i release then power button the amp goes off. Hope this is not a major issue as i need the amp for a few gigs.
Many thanks Edited by yodominic - 15 November 2015 at 7:16pm |

Hi,
Looking at the circuit it appears that it could just be a faulty on/off switch, check this first and it should push in (and stay in), then when pushed again come back out. Hope this helps. |

A year or so ago had one of these amps in for repair with soft start problems, turned out to be cracked ntc's.. The rest of things checked out ok.

as simon says it's probably the on-off button, it should be a push on-push off latching switch, unlike the similar SAE L series which use an electronic latch with momentary tact switch.

Many thanks for all the advise, is it a quite simple DIY jobbie or one for an engineer? i also don't think there are any issues with the circuit as i mentioned when i keep the button pressed in the proction lights does go off but as soon as i release the power button it goes off.

Dirt in the switch - to be honest I would get it to an engineer or better still, Void themselves. Most of the amps that are dirty enough for issues like this to happen are likely to have other issues elsewhere that could show up mid gig. Also to work on front panel bits is quite fiddly unless other chunks of the amp are disassembled so unless you've got some experience and can strip it and put it back together it's best to leave it to an expert.
As a general rule the amps should be opened and cleaned out regularly especially if they've been in dirty venues or places with thick/cheap smoke machines. |

As everyone suggested it was a faulty switch but during the service we have also found one of the back fans to be faulty and needs replacing. Can anyone suggest any Void dealers who can source the spare part for me

This . Another reason to only buy 8MK2s with recent service, that can be verified. |
