Does anyone know if G Subs loaded with RCF LF18X451 drivers would maybe sound good? Here's the drivers :
http://www.rcf.it/products/precision-transducers/low-frequency-transducers/lf18x451 I'm wanting to have two dual 18" subs built with those drivers, thanks. |

The RCF's can shift more air than the original drivers, so the port might not be big enough.
If you download something like WinISD you can simulate different drivers for yourself and see roughly how big a port might be needed. There's a Sticky called "beginners guite to WinISD & Hornresponse" at the top of one of the subforums you can read to help get your head round the program.

I've got WinISD but i'm not that good at working it out plus I don't know the internal volume of the G Sub (taking into account bracing, drivers etc..)

Thanks, I worked it out as 265.53 litres but the calculation doesn't take into account rectangular slotted ports and doesn't take into account more than one brace, the G Sub has 4 braces, one running horizontal and 3 running vertically. With these rough calclations do I just put about 265 litres into WinISD?

289l, assuming built as plan with an allowance of 4l left over for handles which aren't on the plan.

I'm giving up because the enclosure is too hard to work out because as the standard enclosure goes the port isn't big enough for two RCF LF18X451 drivers to work at their best. I've tried changing the port size but then it'd mean the enclosure dimensions would be different to the G Sub plans which then makes the whole thing more technical.

G sub is a very small box. Try something along 450lit internal size if you want real performance.

I honestly don't think i'm mentally able to get my head round designing an enclosure for two RCF LF18X451 drivers, I just thought they might work wonderfully in the G Sub but obviously not.
