Hi Everyone,
this is my first post here. Starting with a stupid story. ![]() I bought 4 original Martin Audio W8 Tops and 6 WSX copys from a guy who ensured me that the WSX would be perfect rebuilds of the originals. What the guy didn't mention is, that they were made of MDF which makes them more than unsuitable for freepartys and general touring. In the advertisement he mentioned that all the cabinets just been redone and painted. Anyway, now he's denying that he knew that they were made of MDF. I'm thinking about starting a court-case against him since he doesn't cooperate in any way (like giving back a part of the money or such). So now i'm searching for CNC-plans for the WSX to get an offer from a local wood-workshop to get an idea how much it would cost me to rebuild the cabinets in a road-suitable version. Would be super nice if anybody could help me! Also any suggestions to build different/better cabinets for the RCF L18P300 (if there are better ones) are more than welcome! Thanks! 343 |

I'm not really sure if that's such a big problem since they are not being produced any more

German law is German law, in the UK if it can be proven that a seller has lied about an item for sale when asked a question then they can be sued over it.
I don't think your chances are that great myself, how can you prove that he didn't know. Anyway it doesn't really matter, there is nothing wrong with gigging MDF cabs if you have the muscles for it and are careful with them. |

Did seller lie to you?
If you didn't ask if cabs where birch ply, you can't blame seller, for not saying they are MDF. Honest seller would have mentioned this, but doesn't make him dishonest, if he merely neglected to mention, as opposed to directly lying. For anyone person buying speaker cabs, it is their responsibility, to ensure they are buying what they are told, as far as reasonably possible. You should have taken the time to request build pics before going to see cabs, ask what material used, and who built cab. Simple 5 second inspection of driver chamber, removing wadding, would have saved you and seller, all of this headache. Which would not have been necessary, if you had asked seller, when first contacting him. Are you sure you are cut out for this game? |
