Alrite -- got a good one here. American Audio VMS4.1 desk/controller with a toasted i.c. (U16).  I
can't find any actual schematics anywhere - & of course, the i.c.
doesn't look like anything else on the board, so can't even take a
guess...  Anyone have schematics, or parts list? Ta.  |

Given it's a power mux, I'd advise checking the circuit for shorts or low impedance routes with it removed from the board. They don't "just" blow up because they want to.
One of the situations I can imagine causing this, would be attaching the wrong DC power supply with the wrong polarity or a very high overvoltage.

Ok thanks for all the info, great!  I realise that there might be other problems on the board, but I have to start somewhere! I think that there was a voltage spike, or something similar. The original wall wart PSU is also burned out. I'll have poke around and see what else may be blown before ordering any parts. The owner is keen to get it fixed, tho'. I was hoping for a schematic, of course. It's a difficult one, but done loads of repairs without, so... |

Ok -- but OUCH on those prices... Just seen one second hand going for 120€. I found a few other faults, so might just recommend that he buys that & keeps this one for spare parts. |
