What do u guys reckon are the optimum high output drivers for an MT122 style cab. I'm thinking of building a higher than MT122 horizontal dispersion cab with the highest possible output for ~150-1k ish
cheers,
Rob.

18Sound 12ND710 is very very efficient and sounds very good. The B&C 12PE32 is a dedicated midrange horn driver, only 250WRMS handling but when it's that efficient do you need power handling?
Between B&C and 18Sound you should find a driver that will do it, although I've had a Ciare 12" midrange recommended to me as well, 12.64 or something. |

ceharden: I'd like highest possible output as i'm putting together a small portable system & only want to cart two mids around with me. I'm planning on something along the lines of an MT122 but with greater horizontal dispersion & a slightly lower cut-off. Those 18sound neos are quite juicy..
timebomb: thats a v. nice speaker, i think i've decided to go for two 10" drivers now, will allow for a slightly higher x-over.
The p-audio line-up at pro-audio parts makes me very tempted to go entirely p-audio. Their P10-100MB (300w 10") looks like a pretty good candidate (i've built MT102 clones b4 using 300w drivers & they would have been perfect with a slightly lower cut-off & lower comp-ratio.)
I'm now designing a cab with a comp-ratio of ~3:1, ~70cm expo, two 10" drivers + phaseplugs with annular exits at the edge of the driver & staying with the BM750 driver+a PH4525 horn(90x40dispersion.) With a 1-1.2K x-over i think this will have the output & crispness i'm looking for. I'll bi-amp it too, so i can correct for the driver &horn placement.
cheers,
Rob

Roborg, at the frequency the mid horn plays in the MT, it doesn't have the length to control the dispersion anyway, it's only the top horn you need to worry about. So don't waste time if you were planning on remodelling it as you probably won't need to.

Roborg,
others already gave you good advice. I only want to warn you about DM750 xover point. I will never ever use this comp driver below 1,4kHz as it sound horrible at high SPL. Regarding the 12" mid, 18Sound has nice models as suggested Ceharden. One of my fav for this applications is Beyma 122Nd with an incredible 8,6% efficiency. I've got unbelievable SPL with ridiculous low power using this driver in short mid horn. Pricy but you save on the amp size so all in one a good deal. good luck Arthur |

Anyone tried this solid looking 18Sound 12'' driver in a mid cab ?
It's 12MB600
Not sure if the 12ND710 is the neo version to it, but this 12MB600 sounded brilliant in a MT122 style cab.
