Respect Jahhamma,
I like the sound name.
The system sounds rough already & I don't even see one picture yet.
Back in the day, their used to be a sound system from Sth London called Sledge Hammer, you're not connected are you ?
From you mention Tubbys amps & pre-amp also Super Scoops, U must be sayin' something, but watch out, cause Iration Stepps from Leeds ah gwaan wid big tings wid their set. Very powerful.
Have you you got a web address @ myspace.com ? If not, it'll be good to sort one out for promoting & pushing your sound.
Can't wait to hear your set, hope one day you can get a bring in into Brixton Recreation Centre or Stratford Rex in London, cause in them venues you can really see / hear what your system can do.
Nuff niceness, keep the roots music pumping.
Bless.

Ah so we do it man wid powerful sound, it's no compettion, we just don't want our sound systems to flop, when doing a big gig, seen...

Have to say Hikk, Roots sound is a thing of different dimensions, and means a different thing to each man. Each to their own... Like it or not competition and power have always played a part in Sound System culture and these days it's still there, along with the vibes, the music and all. At the end of the day this forum is mainly focused on the technical side..so its inevitable people here will be interested in their equipment, the quality, the power. Doesn't mean it's our only interest, but trhere are plenty of other Roots communities online where people go to Reason and reflect on other aspects of roots & culture.
I'm not ashamed to say I love to hear a powerful sound, and love to play one even more.

Greetings
Roots sound system is not a competition
We all like to hear a powerfull sound but lets not forget the message is in the music and not the equiptment.
All we want do is play heavy but not loud, spread the message and make friends not enemies along the way.
One Love

AH BE THAT IT ???? lol so why answer ? With words like what league you in and can you compete ,one would have to be a fool as to not know what one means ,please they leave very little room for misinterpretation. I do find the use of the word FLOP very interessting ! however before i put my FOOT in it what does the I Mean?? Also love looking at PICS and equipment lists of what others Have..mmmm yes great stuff so please bring it on more pics .The less pretense the better ! ps fully aware that in the roots scene a CLASH is called upliftment lol lol and instead of who has the biggest/loudest mouth its WHO HAS THE LOUDEST/BIGGEST SOUND.......! joke ! well always some truth ! dont forget WHO HAS THE BIGGEST WOOLY HAT ! Yeah like Jah Shaka is the best selector and best sound around. Although he doesn't have tons of bass or power like Iration Steppas.
Jah Shaka plays the best selection of wickedddddd tunes and gives the best chants on the mic and vibe to it.And plays it in a certain unique way.
If your tunes and selecting is not all that, you need a powerfull and well bassy soundsystem to make up for it.
But if your tunes and selecting is wicked then you get known regardless of your soundsystem.
But everyone should be respected in the reggae 'scene'. As they all work hard to create a wicked vibe. Edited by ToXiC - 15 October 2006 at 10:41pm |
