Hi guys I have a nebula 3000, not the best I know but serves its purpose.
Had it out tonight, half way through the night it stopped working via dmx, upon inspection it keeps saying warming up on the remote screen, any ideas what would be causing this? Usually I can use it all night once warmed up, I appreciate it may need to warm up from time to time but it's been like this for about half hour or so Any help appreciated |

I'm thinking maybe thermostat or part that warms fluid is fucked and not warming enough to use?

^^ I'm guessing the heater element has cooked itself therefore not reaching the required temp.

easy move plug into PAT device or maplin "watt watcher" and check current draw, if as Sam suggests the heater is shagged or the OT trip has gone the current draw will be mA not A

Sounds stupid, but are you using the correct type of fog fluid? a venue I went to had a problem with a smoke machine that wouldn't heat up properly and only puffed a little smoke, turns out they put the wrong stuff in it.

probably not to be honest, i bought it new but couldnt find any where that said what the recommended fluid was so i went and bought some average £20 a tub stuff from my nearest shop.
Got caught short on a job a few weeks back and had to put some other stuff in it. could that really be the problem lee? What can i do to solve this and also find out whats recomended for my machine, i really didnt think fluid could do damage |

Yeah it is but you have to "break-in" the mains circuit (unless you have an amp-clamp type meter) the safest way to do this is to chock-blok the probes of your meter into the live feed, it is by no means dangerous but make sure you have a 10A AC setting on your meter and make sure you have the probes connected to the correct sockets, you have to interrupt the circuit so the power actually passes thru the meter! |

so basically i need to wedge the probes into the socket with the plug? with the meter already set to 10A AC setting and wait for the reading?
