what frequencies to the 18" super scoops respond best to?  I would like to use the ones im going to build for sub bass, and bass. i want to have only 4 cabs in my rig (2 bins 2 tops) what other 2 cabs should i use ontop on my scoops ?? (i dont want the scoops to completely drown out the mid and high tones)

 cheers

steve.

i believ they can handle from about 120hz down... but due to the differing phase from the front and rear of the driver they can sound better from 80 hz or lower down... then they are just a rear loaded horn... the front radiating part works from 80hz ish upwards. for best results apparently you should use a 18" scoop on bass/sub  15"  on kick + a 12 or 10 + tweeter above... have you looked at xtro cabs?

hope this was helpful correct me if im wrong guys/ glen
Always a compromise, You can't have everything...

Where would you put it all.

i have looked into them but i really like the idea of the scoops, i was thinking of constructing 2 18"super scoops and 2 MT122s. using a wharfedale mp2800 amp for the scoops

2 x mt122 will be too much for two scoops

1 mt122 will be enought for two scoops

or 1 x mt121 per scoop

but ideally if you want to use scoops, you need a kick section, i.e. hd15 in between, for best results

And dont skimp on amps either, you can get second hand matrix xp/str3000 for that sort of money.

all i can afford at the moment is two scoops and tops and two amps. from my research the mt121 is also a low freq. cab, im after two scoops and two tops at the mo. i will get a hd15 later on but would it really sound that bad without for a while ?

mt 122 - the 'm' stands for mid and the 't' stands for top

A lot of guy's start with 2x scoops and 1x 2x15 reflex with 1.4" Compression driver ontop of each one..

That will sound fine for venues upto 200 people, until you have 4x scoops with 4 HD15's and 2x MT122s or 4x MT121s.

I'm trying to build something very similar, 2 18" super scoopers loaded with celestion ftr 18-4080 to play dub and reggae but unsure about the mid and top.
Im struggling to find any plans for 2x15" reflex speakers, and have been warned against trying to design them myself as im very new to this. Are there plans around for them?
Or plans for the mt121 as i can only find plans for the mt122

Also, is it worth building HD15s yet or should i put the money into better amps?
Thanks
