While they'll work, the PD1850 is probably not the optimum
driver. The massive motor strength is better put to use in a horn
I think.
For good drivers for the G subs, try something like B&C 18PZB46, a very good reflex driver or the TBX100. There are plenty of drivers suitable for that type of box. |

Thanks for the replies. We are conteplating making some of those subs for our sound system and we know that the 1850's are very good for bass. We currently are using Fane Collussus 18" in scoop bins but need bit more bottom end. |

Are you intending to use the G-subs below the scoops, or in the same frequency range, or something else? In any case mixing reflex and scoops could lead you into trouble. Trying to time align scoops to other subs could be practically impossible due to the direct and horn loaded output. Perhaps we need to look at what you're trying to acheive. The 1850/V1000 is a great driver (except weight and price) but as I said, probably not the optimum driver for reflex loading. The V600 might be a candidate tho. |

Ah, makes sense, am with you now. So you're thinking about say 4x twin 18" reflex to replace the 8 scoops?
You might want to consider something like Staipers ES18 Bandpass-horn. Would give more output than a reflex 18" but not as big and heavy as a scoop. Do a forum search/google for it. Starting to think about going down that route myself. |
