I want to build a pair of bass bins for P.A. for my band. We are vocals, guitars, drums and bass, so I would imagine its mainly kick and bass guitar going through the bottom end of the P.A.
I got four Eminence 600w 15" drivers. Are there any plans that would suit us? Thanks.

If you could specify the type of the drivers it will be easier to recommend a design for them.

I haven't got the drivers at hand at the moment but I think we got them around 1999/ 2002 and they probably Kappa or Kappa Pro 8 ohm 600W.

If they are the Kappa 15LF or Kappa Pro 15LF then they'll work fine in a reflex box of anything from 80-120L volume and tuned to 40-45Hz.
Try this for starters: http://www.speakerstore.nl/constructions/show/49 |

You didn't specify 2x15" in the original post....
The information is still valid. You could turn that design into a 2x15" buy just building two next to each other and missing out the panel inbetween. Or, if you'd investigated the site that one was on you'd have found... http://www.speakerstore.nl/constructions/show/51 |

Sorry about that. I assumed me saying I had four 15" drivers and wanted a pair of bins... That link above for more bins seems o.k. Its not very clear about the way its put together, not to me anyway. They look "forward firing" do you agree?

You might prefer this one, tuning might also be better for your drivers. Ultimately if you want a design which is exactly what you want, you need to do the research and either start from scratch or modify an existing design. Incidentally, there is no advantage other than saving a small amount of wood in building twins over two singles which would be more portable. There are more complex designs out there but by the sounds of it you would be better off with a simpler design to get you started. All of the ones I've posted have been 'front firing', basic bass reflex cabinets. |

Thanks for that. It looks the business. Of the three diagrams, do you reckon the one on the bottom left is the plan, whilst the top right one is the side elevation? Don't know what those thick green bits are either.

Drawingwise, a plan is the view as seen from above looking down, if I am not mistaken. One of the diagrams shows two ports and both drivers. So what your saying is that the drivers are firing upwards?

....really? so your struggleling to read the plans and believe the driver to be facing upwards in a simple PA cab but your willing to play the "symantics game"(?), should you really be building boxes??
its a 3 dimentional plan. |
