if CBX vs WSX is compared outdoor in groups of 4-6.
which one will be the winner for music like modern house, soca, dancehall etc.
which one have more advantages if used in groups?
I have 6 CBX now, but after last weekend gig I'm looking for a better bass cabinet for outdoor use.
If there is a better basscabinet solution then let me know.

If you are always using a stack of 6, FLH over tapped horns any day.

When stacked with 6 cabs outdoor open air, at distance of 30 meters they are very weak. Like no bass is playing. but when standing 2-5 meters your pants are vibrating, they are very loud.
on this stack i use 4 double reflex 15" midtops. mid and high is clear and loud.

and is there a difference in spl, low end, throw if im lying them on their side or stacked them standing.
x over is on 37hz 24 lw and 112 hz 18lw.

Who can tell me the average xover points for the CBX, and if in the upright or laying on it side position get the best results, trying to get the best out of the CBX. Mostly using it outdoor. I'm using reflex double 15" on my CBX, they are loaded with peavey. see images.

O hey sorry didnt see your post. The x-over points are not so detrimental,i ran them from 35-90 to 40-120 depends what else im running them with. One thing that maybe your problem is phase. I found them quite funky with phase, first time i turned em on by a wall there was no bass at all infront it was laughable and quite dissapointing until someone fiddled and reversed phase and boom LOL. Also Stipe the designer suggests 24/db butterworth filters on both low and highpass.
One thing also that could be your problem in the lack of "throw" is the driver. It could be that if you have a very weak motor driver with high qts and other characteristics of a reflex driver that it "chokes" in the cab. Proven driver is b&c tbx100 i now use pzb100 in mine also fine sounding, also tried pd1850 that can get some evil sounds from the box Big smile. Just seen now that they are loaded with a peavey-that could be your problem...Regarding the placement laid or upright i prefer them laid ,used them upright only for getting the tops high enough.
Mind i only have two and they are quite enough for the venue they are at its a 300 people cap venue, and they are the extended version.

thanx for replying, mine are crossed 37hz 24but and 112hz 18but, this saturday I will try 24 butw.
Indoor with only 2-4 cabs the bass is immense in halls for 500-700 peeps. CBX are loaded with 18LW2400. Midtops are loaded with peavey.

But, once 2-3 months I get a outdoor gig then with six cbx and 6 midtops, i dont get the pressure and throw i'm used with this very good basscabs. I know i'm doing something wrong, trying to find out with you soundguys, only what it can be to make them sound right. Next outdoor gig is on 7 may, before then i'm trying to find out what it can be so I can work on it.
enough respect to sir Staiper.

I think you can cross them lower before risking overexcursion, remember the curve starts above the lowcut.

Also in some cases you're better of stacking in one or two stacks, stacking to wide horizontally gives more beaming or "throw".

two stacks of three FLH mirrored to form one big horn is a killer.
Amano made a smaller WSX with no 180 degrees bends, check that!
Also consider what drivers you're using and do a sim first, which drivers are you using?
