Probably not a topic worthy of Advanced discussion but someone here is bound to know the answer,
Been offered a set of 6 JBL 2226HPL drivers for a pretty good price, they are 15" drivers with these specs:
  • 8 ohm
  • 600 W AES continuous pink noise power capacity
  • 4 inch (100 mm) edge-wound aluminum voice coil
  • 30 Hz – 2.5 kHz response
  • 97 dB sensitivity, 1 W, 1m (3.3 ft)
  • SFG magnet structure withVented Gap Cooling™ technology
  • Net weight: 8.7 kg (19.25 lb.)

Im looking to replace the 15" drivers in my CSG tops, the xtro lookalikes with different 15" low mid section, similar to a HD ... (If you've been a regular on here for a few years you will know the ones). They've got mismatched drivers in currently and been looking to sort them out for quite a while now, havn't been used in years.

Was wondering if anyone knows whether these JBL's would work well in the enclosure, I've never been too hot on matching up drivers to cabs I usually just use whatever the general consensus says works best. These are DIY cabs so no official specs for them...
    Any help appreciated

Basically, I taught myself everything I know through just doing it and finding out what works, reading on speakerplans and titbits of information fed to me by people that know more....
I run a soundsystem and can make it sound great but know absolutely NOTHING about cab building or matching drivers to cabs, hence why I posted asking for help.

So no I dont know that mass corner is only 240hz, & I dont even know what mass corner is. Please elaborate? This is why I posted, to ask people that know more than me Wink

He means the upper frequency response limit of the driver in a horn. (which is apparently [2*Fs/Qts])

IIRC, JBL 2226H have been known to shred/almost ignite in horns.

However, exceedingly good in suitable reflex cabs.

As previously stated, PD154 are very nice nice in many short horns/BPH.

^ Correct, although the 2226 may work in a short horn,is not ideal. The much better E140 works a treat if you can find any thesedays.

PD154,or PD1550 also both good.
Be seeing you.
