The difference is that it was a back loaded passive radiator in that cabinet.

There is a tremendous difference how loudspeakers were designed 50 years ago. This is why it becomes difficult to imagine how such a setup would work and sound pleasing to the majority at that time. It also the reason why, old wooden boxes hold very little value compared to the astronomical prices the loudspeakers housed in those wooden cabinets command today.

Marjan, thats a totally different, modern, approach, which might work well indeed in a certain situation.. miles off the one above..
(OT - I look forward to having a play with dcx464 and axi2050 a/b`d on very large horns too to check if they really are capable of being crossed that low, +sounding good, at serious levels :) )

For several months i was using only 4592 on a biggish horn crossed at 400hz over those subs for some playback in my office. I still have a pair that are not leaving my office any time soon :)
To be honest it sounded fantastic. Not perfect combination for sure, but it really really sounded good.

^ would you use a RLH/scoop to meet a comp though?
(would you have a mid at chest height and seperate the tweeters by 20-30cm etc.?)
- although those stacks `look kinda cool`. technically there are better solutions imho Confused

It's a difficult choice, would you rather have:

A: A vegan son.
B: An OnlyFans daughter
