Indoors or outdoors/free from nearby walls etc? It was the same when I used my two hogs indoors. Up close vision was blurred and ears almost bleeding, few steps back and that was it. Outdoors, same setup, bass could be easily felt 30 meters away! You just could not get away from the bass. |

The Turbomax Redeye driver, is now RMJs premier offering. Put that in the right Scoop, with right power and pre-amp, it's over.

That is what I have experienced many, many times with lots of different cabs. T18 notorious for it, Martin 215, CV Folded horns even Cubo's. Seems the driver turns the scoop into something different, or just isn't suited for indoor scoops. Would be interesting in a 2x18 reflex for a laugh?

I think scoops / horns are more prone to room acoustics and room effects. There will be more cancellation and areas where bass is minimal (compared to a SPL coming from the horn). Even the floor will act like a horn extension and will make things more complicated compared to reflex subs. So for small indoors, reflex / bandbass will do the best. Large spaces and outdoors, that's where horns will shine. Even Cubo 15 seems to have difficulties @ small indoors. |

[/QUOTE] Lost count of the times I've been in small clubs with f218 or other horn type stuff and thought FFS buy some reflex. Had 8x T18, then a load of Court W bins in a club years ago, bloke came in with his 2x15 reflex JBL's and it was like hi fi compared to our kit. Lesson learned that day. The Void things at Rogs party seemed to work though, although I was on the balcony... While we're at it, bloody 8" satellites in clubs with 18's on the bottom, Bleugh!! Never enough in the middle.

Lev, remember the big soundclash, mitchigan vibes, brendon and the third sound using 8 1500i. Remember how much of the hall they covered considering how HUGE that hall was? Considering the size of that hall the driver was definatly throwing

In Bristol, TweeterBox got the cabs to throw/Move air, but it was mostly 55hz+. As you know PDs in Shortman mini, effortless throw, even down to 35hz!!! |
