Hi,

So this is my first post here:)

I'm looking to build horns that wil go along with my mt 102 speaker (loaded with eminence kappa pro 10).
I was thinking about the 1850 horn plan with the Beyma SM118/N as driver because of a smaller budget. (any other driver suggestions are also welcome, around the price range of 100 to 250 euro a piece)
would this be a good fitting combination? or do you have any other suggestions?
I'm looking for tall speakers to put the mt102's on top.

Because I already own a 3 way soundsystem I already have a processor/ amps.
I don't really want to buy more equipment at the moment so i'm planning to build another 3 way system.
The amp I currently use for sub/bass gives about 350w max at 8 ohm.
I'm not sure if this is enough power to get the 1850 horns going?

so my current plan is something along the lines of:

tweetes: 4500-20000hz
mid: 250/200 - 4500hz
subs/horn:  I'm hoping to get some good suggestions for this part:)

Let me know if there is some info i forgot to mention in this post!
I want to use the system for small to medium events

I hope somebody can help me out here!

The 1850 horns would work well with MT102's, however, I very much doubt 350w is going to be anywhere near enough to drive an 1850 horn properly. I wouldn't run them up to 200hz or higher either, 180hz would be my preferred upper limit, the same with the mids, MT102's are never going to get up to 4.5khz, 1.5khz would be more sensible so you'll obviously need a pretty beefy comp driver above.

What equipment do you have already, why do you want to build another system?

Welcome to Speakerplans by the way.

hmm, yeah maybe I would need a better amp for that in the future.
I got a lot of free wood to use, so i figured why not. My current speaker are really a "tekno rave" system.
I'm looking to build a more reggae/dub oriented system.
My noob idea of how to achieve this was replacing my w-bins for scoops. but than i read that scoops are not the best because of the phase problems they have.
So thats why I thought about building the 1850's.

My current tweeter specs list that they go from 1.5 to 20khz so I think that would be okay:)
What do you think about the driver I listed to go with the 1850?

Im open for any suggestion on which cabins to build for my lows if you have any!

What are the tweeters?
If its for dub 1850 doesnt fit.
Mentioned Beyma doesnt fit to 1850 horn.

For tweeters I now use the RCF N350.
hmm thats to bad, what makes you say that they don't fit?
I'm not really sure what i need to be looking at. there are so many specs listed for a speaker.

and what kind of plans would you suggest for dub?

You can cut costs on voice coils for your powers. There are usually recommendations to designs. With 350W you may not even see that the speaker moves.
Dub - dub: scoops
Or dubstep craziness?
Read more about MT.

what and about hogs?
I'm not sure about scoops because of all the critique on the internet about the phase isue
what advantage would they have over the 1850 or hogs?

I would like to use them for dub/regae and old school dubstep stuff. But I don't want to be that genre specific if somebody wants to ex. play some funk the smeared out baseline coming from the scoop should not be stopping them. But I don't know how much it really matters in the end?

I would like to read more about it, but i'm not sure what you mean with MT to be honest.
Let me know:)

Hog scoops no higher than 115 and that's from Stapier, so 200 is well out of the equation, are you going for horns for any particular reason? there are some truly devastating reflex rigs out there that would do what you want.

Thanks for the reply, I saw also that I asked the question to fast my bad.
Do you have any examples?
The reason I wanted to go for horns is manly because I could put them straight up, they are usually really tall which would give my system some good volume/height.
