I got 300m cut up in 5m, 10m,1.2m and 20m , so far l’ve cut everything out to size made 24x5m done , 36x1.2m done , this is like 28hrs so far  (about) i’d Say without small jobs on the side if I sit to make all in one go 26hrs for all , cause it doesn’t really matter how long The cables is, it’s just The ends . So after awhile you Got to, make a plan 🤐🙀

Soldering speakon is the way forward. I do how ever use NL4 FC connectors.

A - they are easier to solder.

B - It’s easy to replace the whole outer shell without having To de solder anything unlike the fX where the tab and connector is all one unit.

I have always preferred soldering speakons.

For anyone thinking of this I have two observations:

The soldering iron needs to be hot and to have plenty of thermal capacity. I have always used a Weller with a Nr.8 (800 degrees F / 427C) long wedge shaped bit, about the same width as the terminal block so as to give the quickest heat ransfer.

If you have a regular need to make these, or have to do large batches, it is worth getting a solder pot. It makes tinning the wires much easier and quicker.

Having said that, it is possible to get reliable connections without soldering. You need to throw away the leaf springs, which are rubbish and always creep after doing the screws up, and fit ferrules to the wires instead. And after tightening up the screws, leave them for an hour or two (or come back the next day) and re-tighten them before final assembly to make sure. But soldering is still better.

The first version of the speakon (the one with Allen screws) actually came with a set of ferrules, but a lot of people didn't bother to use them and the wires would work loose.
