I use IB218 with F215 and i think best ratio is 2 infras for 2 F215.
Of course depends of genre, place, taste.

Kinda agree to a point, 12 for 2000 peeps then you really don't have headroom but compared to adding a couple of f1 infra then better off doubling up on f218 and extending, did it this summer with some and system proveider was happy with result as were the punters. Most of my experience of this type of box is the flashlight 721, anything from singles to 48 at a time (wouldn't boost on singles, at least 4 with headroom to spare), used this when called for by style of music, not just theory, never lost a driver. Engineers add boost on these inadvertently without thought with sweep eq on a desk.
I think the effect can be greater than the sum of it's parts in this case, wide band low end with no phase wrap and very good transient response gives it a more visceral effect so needing less overall to give the impression of lots of low end, that rug being pulled from under you, air pressure changeing, sense of something big happening kinda feel.

Yes, this is kind of correct but meaningless for real world use. Sensitivity is so low that you will have overexcursion if you want any usefull SPL. If you have 12 F218 for 200 people then you can do this but for 2000 people that you usually cover with 12, you can't. I own 4 F121. They are 45 Hz and up boxes.

You were looking at the RTA on the console, or on the graphic? Or a measurement system? If you feed 30Hz into a system that doesn't do it, it'll still produce the harmonics. On some BPH, the harmonics are louder than the fundamental, which might trick you into thinking they play deeper than they do. The harmonics lead the fundamental anyways, so you hear these first. |

Probs a bit optimistic with 6dB per ocatave but not far off, doable easily with 12, had play with some last summer, res4's over F218’s, showing plenty going on below 30 on the 3rd octave, do use a system that hits 30 f6 regularly.

Is this based on data or your ears?

If you have enough F218 you can do sub, you just need enough of them, eq the upper response and use a Linkwitz type transform at the low cutoff to extend as low as your headroom allows, even using a 6dB per octave boost will give a f6 into the 20’s, unlike a reflex box they can be boosted below their f3.

I've heard infra bass many times now, but none of that comes from any FK1 box... |
