Note: the chamber would mount like that on the back of a fibreglass horn.

would a different driver that is happy in a much larger chamber make things simpler?

You could also make it dual 15 with v loading.

I agree it could indeed be easier, but where's the fun in that?
If I make a back bowl that mounts onto the driver itself I could always remove it and use another, perhaps better suited driver further down the line in prototyping?

I did consider it, but it would mean getting another more powerful amplifier and potentially making a larger cabinet.
I also just like the challenge of the horn section, I'm learning loads. If I wanted simple I'd have done the smart thing and just made some reflex boxes with good quality drivers. |

The HF108 sounded smoother than the 4540nd when i tested it, less harsh and aggressive, and much flatter response on my horn. BMS had slightly better sensitivity overall, but suspect real world power handling will be lower on the BMS, both say 60W but 38mm coil vs 44mm on the Faital. I wouldnt say all annular diaphragm drivers are copys of BMS, its quite a different driver Marjan :)
Celestion CDX1-1730 / 1731 with a bit of EQ was just as nice as the Faital, i would recommend that one but the HF108 is a nice driver.

How is the LTH102 on listening? Is it rolling off highs off axis or not?

plenty of single annular HF comps available soon i guess, get out your wallets and compare for yourselfes gents? :) btw. luthier, i would personally not spend a single min. spending my time craming a complicated flh into that design when a simple 2x12 V loaded reflex would be just as capable, more forgiving and more or less just as compromising within given volume..

It has definitely been intresting reading the responses about the CDs, if I do go for any of the above I'll make sure to post. |
