hi,
Can anyone please recommend a suitable bassbin plan for the celestion
CF1840JD driver.
I am currently using a dual pod bassbin enclosure from celestion website but not impressed. So I am open to single bins or dual.
Reflex is best for these drivers.
General purpose use for generally upsetting tummies!

Reflex subs aren't rocket science, so what exactly have you built and how is is being powered and processed?
Also how many of these do you have and what size events are you doing?

That's the link to what I built.
Running 8ohm 2 channel with a Hybrid 5000watt amp.
Sound is ok. But missing punch.

No idea. But celestion thinks his model is great.
I use it for live jazz, disco, outdoor events.
The sound is quite strange actually. It's as if the bass is only felt but not heard.

That looks like a car subwoofer box.

Bizzarre. Hopefully you used 3/4" hardwood plywood and not Cedar as suggested in the plans.

How did you accomplish that with the drivers wired in parallel? Or are you powering a single driver per channel.

What high pass and crossover frequency are you using?

How many of these boxes do you have?

What is the single channel power rating for the amp into 8ohms?

3/4 inch birchply outer , laminated to 1 inch cedar inner. Best of both worlds.

Drivers wired in parallel. One driver, one channel.

Amp only supplies the bassbin.
My behringer Ultradrive only gives the amp low frequencies. It has built in crossovers. I set it to 20  - 100

I have only one dual box I made and use. Seems to work better outdoor. Really gets the earth moving. But like I said before, it's just not audible enough.I am a mastercraftsman in the woodwork trade, so it's a quality piece with top grade hardware , connectors, finish, etc. Why do you ask, do you want one made?

8Ohm Setreo Power ,RMS/CH 1300watt.
Drivers are rated at 1200. So right in the sweat spot there.

Not really, When it comes to speakers and powerful subwoofers in particular softwoods have no place at all.

Actually that would be wired discretely. Wiring 2 drivers in parallel suggests they are connected together inside the box. You didn't do that right?

20hz is too low you're just wasting amp power producing rumble, raise that to 40hz. The loud bass you desire is in the 60-80hz range.

That is what I was afraid of, one dual 18 reflex box really isn't enough.  A pair of double 18s starts to get interesting and can even do a good job in some situations depending what tops they are paired with...  what tops do you have BTW? But if you want maximum thump you might consider another style of enclosure, a horn like the one I linked above produces a lot more output in the upper bass range and better couples the driver to the air producing more kick for the same amount of input.
