I love how people complains about 30+ years amplifiers performances, but may i ask when was the last time those amps being serviced?? i mean proper serviced..thermal paste changed, all the solderings remade, recaped, recalibrated, dust and crap cleaned and all parts checked?? well for sure..never...so don't complain about poor performance then,i cannot drive my CS1000X in thermal cut out even if i drive him short lol,but that amp was fully restored, not ,,serviced'' by some building site labourer with a dust blower after watching a youtube video how to do it in his spare time, most of people want cheap and good, well doesn't work like that guys, expecially when you deal with 10+ years old amps...not to mention 30+ years old...i don't even plug an amp that old in socket before i do a full restore to it,so stop blameing old amps performances as is not the case,if an amp is working, doesn't means is performing,so first make sure the amp you blame being crap is in perfect working condition,if your CS1000X cuts out ofcourse the thermal paste is gone from the outputs, loads of crap in the tunnel ventilation, and for sure from 12 outputs per ch maybe just 6-7 of them are still doing there job while the rest are just hanging there for decor because of cold joints,if all the 12 outputs per ch are proper working and cooled there's no way in this world to get a thermal cut-out not even if you push it in heavy 2R per ch all night long,as these amps are proper overengineered and plenty of power reserve in those output stages,750w output power in 2R load is nothing from 12 MJ15024/MJ15025 outputs,so you need to know first what amplifier you have and what should be capabile of,and if is not..then my friend..you got a problem with it and needs repairs.

Time to beg, steal or borrow some and have a listen!

Yeah i'm gonna try and find one in the new year and do an A/B test with the CS1000x running one sub and one side of my RMX4050HD running another sub.

Well its now December 4months since your original post no ones stopping you or anyone from using the Peaveys or A/Bing them, but what I cant understand is why ask a Question if you cant be open minded about the answer especially from folk who have owned the said amps. At the end of the day the choice is yours and what you intend to use them for. What you could do is a bit of research and see what ppl are using in their racks these days and see if Peavey CS is in the mix. What is a known fact is that Peavey acquired Crest, Its the Crest amplification and its brand is where Peavey have invested their R&D bless

It's not that, it's that some people say the CS1000x amps are still to this day a great sub amp and he's saying they're rubbish.

I dont see the point in asking opinions if you already seem to have made up your mind up. If you want the peaveys then buy the peaveys.
