Brilliant dub, love the detail on the side.

What's the driver?

In the spirit of the original post,  I once made a small speaker cabinet or of a hollow log and plugged it with paper mache to make the baffle. Wasnt particularly scientific but sounded fine

I've often considered carbon fibre, or carbon fiber honeycomb composite sheets (paper, foam or aluminium cores) to make some cabinets out of but not convinced about the sound quality enough to invest the money in giving it a go.

has anyone tried measuring how much stiffness is added to plywood by different paint finishes - acrylic, polyurea, line-x, fibreglass. expoxy resin? All can have chopped strand mixed in, or be painted over fibre-glass matting. If the coating adds surface hardness and increases panel stiffness then much lighter and cheaper wood can be used. I've found some poplar-core ply that has specific density of only 0.43 Sold as "efficiency poplar" ultra lightweight poplar"

just been reading about natural fibre alternatives to glass fibre that are nicer to work with - flax, jute, hemp etc
