Reverse phase cables have solved the volume and quality of the signal issue. Thanks for all the advice guys. Both units are emitting a hash buzzing though, but only when a cable is connected to the inputs. Thinking a service might be in order

Thinking more, could the buzz be a ground loop ? Perhaps caused by the fds 360 being unbalanced ?

There is obviously some grounding issue there, but maybe an issue with the desk? Or graphic? Try unplugging the eq and/or desk and see what happens. A process of elimination. |

I tested them between a set of turntables and mixer and a pair of powered monitors that don't hum at all unless you turn all the volumes up full, and even then it's barely audiable. With the bss in the signal chain the hum is very loud, using both the reverse phase cables and normal balanced xlrs, even with the volume on the monitors and mixer set really low

Ok - maybe time to open up the BSS and check the PSU caps, etc. A bad/leaky cap could cause some hum. |

Isn't there a grounding link on the barrier strip - if so, is it installed?

If not already try crossover cables on the input & output of the FDS so pin2 to pin3 input and pin3 back to pin2 for the output link

What mixer are you connecting to the BSS? I did have a hum problem with my omnidrive when connected to my Pioneer DJM 900 which was because both the mixer and omnidrive are floating ground. Earthing the mixer fixed the issue.

Not sure, not at home so can't check but the manual says the barrier strip has limiter cancel, automute cancel, limiter threshold reference and band insertion points. No mention of grounding
