Has anyone ever bench tested the Wharfedale Pro DP series amplifiers? They look great and I know that Wharfedale Pro amps have been good before from reviews i've read. Here's the brochure and they look good.

Quote Using Neutrik audio connectors and the highest quality internal fans

So, without Neutrik connectors and 'special' fans it won't work. C'mon.... LOL

Not quite.  But which would you rather have:

1: An amp with proper Neutriks and known good-quality fans,

2: An amp made with the cheapest Neutrik copies and the junkiest fans that can be found in China.

They look internally identical or very similar to those CVR amps that were mentioned on here in another thread.

I always have reservations when a power output is claimed without any mention of what power measurement. Are they RMS, AES, peak, music, peak music, or someother magical power measurement that it can only do for 1/10000th of a second when the wind's blowing from the North and you had wine with your evening meal*? (* - red wine obviously, as white wine reduces the number by 50%).

Class D amps are the same as Class B amps in that if the power supply isn't up to it then the amp isn't gonna do what's claimed. Ergo, the more respectable the manufacturer the more reliable the claim... well, kind of anyway.

"This amp is from a well respected brand, it's been used on many tours all around the world and it only costs two and a half grand", says the salesman, "or we have this one that claims the same output levels can be yours for just twenty quid and a reach-around". You get what you pay for.

It states on the Wharfedale Prosite that they're rated in RMS.

What's wrong with Adam Tech and Amphenol connectors for example ? You won't 'hear' (audiophoolery) the difference between the Neutrik and those two brands.
Will they brake ? Of course, like all connectors if improperly handled.

Edit: Besides, they are all made in China. Wink

Not what you said, you said 'won't work', nothing about hearing.  Reliability goes a long way with me.

Yep maybe - but break ( brake) a lot slower if Neutrik or other reputable brand is used.

Note that you don't refer to the fans which was the other quote that you used.

Yep.  Like the amps - they're all made in China; just that some are made with higher-grade and longer-lasting components than others of 'maybe' the same or similar MI audio quality.
