Hi. Looking for a cost effective brad nailer to hold the cab together as i assemble ideally to secure 2 peices of 18mm ply together... I have a compressor with different pressure adjustment so looking for a decent nailer that attaches.. I wont be using it alot, only to build my own cabs... Will consider electric one too... let me know what you guys reccomend..

We always used staples, rather than pins / brads.
I'd be looking for a decent air-powered stapler. Edited by madboffin - 17 August 2020 at 5:36pm |

I bought the Clark "Bandit" kit from machine mart. It comes with a nail/staple gun, hose and 1000 of each.
It's brilliant. If you already have a compressor give them a call and find out which gun is in the kit.

Definitely stick with air. Brad nails are fine for getting joints positioned before screwing, staplers better if you are not screwing the joint.
Clarke stuff is fine, as is Tackwise. The Clarke Silent compressors are great, i have one of the smaller ones and you don't notice it running at all

Agree totally. I had a couple of electric nail guns (Rapson and Tackwise) and the both worked, but neither put the brad fully in so each tack needed a couple of hammer blows to fully seat it.
Might as well have knocked the nail in by hand.

Ive been through several cheap nail guns and they all worked for a while but eventually start to jam. Since then ive got a nice Bostitch gun and it is much better engineered. The cheapos work for a while though, depends how many cabs your building, and if you remember to oil them, and have as water vapor collector on your air line. I probably didnt treat the cheapos as well as i should of.

Cheers timebomb.. il keep that advice in mind.. im only using it for say 20 cabs a year. Only to hold panels together. So nothing too expensive required.

I've just bought a vonhaus from amazon, under forty delivered. It's not something I use often enough to justify spending more atm. But I have some studio racks to build this week. Having access to a decent sized hydra vane compressor. Should see it right.

Unless you are mass producing, a brad gun is pointless

I don't agree. An air nailer/stapler is quick and doesnt have to be expensive. Why not use one?
