Hi,

I am looking for some help regarding my Cabinet/driver combination.

I currently have 8 X Cerwin vega ab36c and I am really battling to find any replacement drivers / recone kits.

My question is what other drivers am I able to use in this cab?

I am able to easily source the RCF LF18G401 driver. Would this driver work? I have tried playing with hornresp but I don't have a degree at quantum physics so I haven't been able to work it out.

Any help would be appreciated,

That uses one of their 'stroker' drivers...surely Cerwin themselves would be able to supply recone kits for them? Have you tried emailing them direct?

Contacting the importer seems sensible to me.

The Stroker driver originally used in the ab-36c looks to be a very specialist unit, a double spider dual voice coil 18" that has an Xmax of 38mm (+/- 18mm).

I could not find any companies stocking a recone kit for this original driver.

There is a Cerwin Vega driver part no. WOFP18406 that a couple of speaker parts suppliers in the usa are listing as a suitable "replacement" driver for the ab-36c.

Would be interesting to hear what the importer has to say.

Hi,

Thanks for the Replies.

I have Contacted CV and not heard anything back from them.

I have also contacted Musiclink and they Don't import any CV gear anymore, the only Re-cone kits they have are for the newer EL36D Version.

I have been in contact with a replacement driver supplier off Ebay in the USA, The driver itself is well priced @ 160 ish USD but the Shipping is Astronomically high, like 4 X what the driver costs so I cant really go down that road.

I have heard in the past that there are other drivers that would work in this cab, So If I can find a driver that does work I will probably buy a bunch to future proof myself.
