It's been a long time since I looked at lighting controllers but if my memory serves me correctly the programme was held in a volitile memory which was maintained by a nicad battery, when the battery fails it leaks on the pcb and also corrupts or clears the programme from the unit.
Hopefully I have remembered that incorrectly because it means your unit is land fill if I have.
An actual expert will be along in a bit...

Could it just be blown Triacs on some of the channels? these are the components that turn the power on and off, if they are overloaded they get fried. They are usually an easy fix if this is the case.

Keep pushing on, things are gonna get better.

I was wondering about the triacs on the missing channels as in my other ancient chaser ,a old njd sc4000 which was used for light screens but it all ways seemed that when that went wrong the channel would stay on all the time but the leds on the front panel would still sequence. I know this is a different make and a bit more complex but it doesn't want to chase and three channels don't go at all.this has been used for just one pin spot per channel forever so I don't think it was overloaded.I fear what Steve says will be truth.one weird thing though is if you put it on reverse mode with pairs pattern the leds light up on the front!!? Thanks people anyway...just wanted to get my money's worth our of it!

Ah you’re a way away from me, otherwise I could have looked at it for you. It’s done well to last as long as it has, and the likelihood is many of the components inside will be well past it due to age. However without seeing it is anybody’s guess

It might be worth having a chat with Nev of Zen Audio Works in Taunton to see if he can have a look at it for you.

I will look into that. Actually after just looking inside the unit I really can't see anything obvious at all ,no burn marks or the like and it is spotless inside ,no tumbleweed of dust anywhere....thanks for the heads up.Thumbs Up

Malcom Barnes is your man he's specialist in vintage Dj equipment you can find him here but he is also a member of SP but I can't remember his user name
Never criticise another man until you've walked a mile in his shoes. Once you have, call him what you like, you're a mile away and you've got his shoes!
