Short answer: yes. Adding depth to the horn with the a smoother transitioning flare will improve directivity.
Here’s an example of a similar horn with directivity plots: https://en.toutlehautparleur.com/media/catalog/product/datasheet/sica/Q07050A.pdf Long answer: many line array systems only offer their stated horizontal coverage angle from ~2 kHz to 10 kHz. That includes VDOSC. Download the manufacturer GLL data for some of the boxes you’re familiar with and have a look at the horizontal isobars in the free AFMG GLL Viewer program. The horn you’re looking at and the equivalents are designed to handle the path length compensation part of the design, which is explained in the original papers by L’Acoustics’ Christian Heil with some lovely diagrams. Not all horns are equal in how they do this, even at big name brands. Edited by toastyghost - 23 February 2021 at 6:44pm |

Hi everyone
Looking for some advise/education on waveguides When you go searching online for waveguides (considering to make/experiment with a few line array boxes), they all seem to look like they're not cabable of the advertised 90, 100, 140 degree horizontal dispersion (hyperlink below to show what i'm refering to) https://www.eminence.com/speakers/hornflare-detail/?model=LA-WG10 Is this only half of the final product??, so waveguide THEN 100 degree Horiz horn???? Or do you incorperate it into the actual box??? Thanks in advance for any advise
