So im interested in learning about tapped horns. From what I understand, the horn length is a quarter of the frequency they are designed to handle well. If the horn impact the sound waves just like a port in a bass reflex design, then the usable frequency response must me very narrow. Is horn different from ports? If so, what makes them different? What does a 1/4 wavelength do different than a small port, tuned to the same frequency?

Is the usable frequency response of tapped horn wider than the frequency response of a normal bassreflex port? I might be bad at googling, but I have yet to find any good Info on this matter, or.. well… I have found some articles about horns but once I see complex math equations I tend to back of and look for something simpler to read.

I'd first begin with the basics of designs based on quarter wave propagation:

Tons of stuff here which covers most bases, especially if you read it in order.

From my experience, tapped horns and bass reflex have different dispersion in smaller rooms - BR fills a smaller room nicely but TH has more of a "throw"

How can one soundsource make soundwaves behave differently than another soundsource? Soundwaves behavior should follow the laws of physics regardless of soundsource?

Generally for a chosen driver an optimal tapped horn will be bigger in volume than an optimal  bass reflex cabinet.
Unsurprisingly the tapped horn being bigger is also louder -
Being louder is often referred to as 'Throw'Thumbs Up

We tried playing different sine waves in about a 70m2 and the TH had more spots of cancellation that BR. I dono. just saying, thats my experience, maybe its an illusion...

Horns usually also do not work well in small rooms. We had a party in a 30m2 rooms and we turned the FLH facing the wall, then it worked great

Have they been volume matched ?
Maybe the TH excites the room modes more simply because of loudness.
Also maybe it was peaky exactly in the room mode frequency .
I mean I also witnessed this with reflex really filling up a room nicely like it's contained much more within it and pretty even response all around.
