i take it this means they're both in trouble below 38hz as they exceed their xmax

not strictly, ill dig a plot out.. youll see cabs like the lab12 doing that too.. to a scary extent. it just means that where the power compression effect is ignored, that it goes into slightly non-linear response (xmax is the range of fully linear travel, not a hard limit) ..compressing the final notes a little. but multiple stacked cabinets will increase the loading at those freqencys, reducing the effect further than predictions may imply. |

heres something special that happens when you use 8 in quarter space
(up against a wall), similar gains to be expected in various other
stacking situations and places ;)
(okay, actually this is 3x3, so 9 ..but 8 about the same, also this isnt showing the extra senstivity resulting from directivity gain) if you intend to use more than afew, there is an argument for going for the more expensive, longer excursion drivers, like the fane 18-1000 & 1500 ..and yes, i expect the v1000 :) ..this will allow you to use the capacity down to 30hz in stacks when setup properly :) |

what is the depth measurement top depth measurement in mm am i being daft (again ) or is it not on the plan... and would i be too cheeky, considering you've already released the plan to ask for the cad file for a cnc place to work from?
many thanks these do look just the ticket. |

dimensions are all in millimetres (& degrees).
apologies, no cad files will be released; as usually diy'ers dont have access to cnc machines :) ..however, its not too difficult to setup a cab this simple for cnc. btw heres some plots for what should happen with 8 (okay 9 in the sim !) cabs in 0.5 space. in this case, the longer excursion fane 18-1000 driver, with a reduced rear volume to 40l, to very clearly keep it out of any perceived prolems, for folks that want to run them nearer to 30, rather than 40 :) (hornresps speculative directivity gain shown in grey) Edited by nineleaves - 04 March 2010 at 5:44pm |

one more little thing..
think i found the data for the lab12 bins.. heres what 2 of them (2 drivers in each) do on excursion in half space (outside-grey) & inside (black-corner). fed 2000w total. drivers nominal xmax is 13mm |

RCF N401 sim pretty good too
fane is more expensive here than in england.
Fane B600 is grey, RCF N401 is black,

looks like that could work quite well for you dj-panoramix.
Might want to go for the ferrite version if you can help it tho, its still abit touch and go over how well neo bass drivers can take being punished. not all of them can take getting a thorough cooking & end up with the magnets loosing strength, burning voice coils a shafting the whole driver. the cabinet as a whole is quite light, and the ferrites probably cheaper for you; just a thought to consider it as an option, will be more likely to give you a good safety margin :) |
