Interesting line up of names there. Can anyone tell me why Hi Fi is added to so many names, does this originate from anything?

This is from comment section of : http://reggaelicious.pbworks.com/w/page/8799935/List%20Of%20Sound%20Systems

Not sure if true,anyone?

On the subject of a sound systems name;

Please let's keep their full names and try to keep up
in terms of accuracy.
The detail of how a sound system is managed is so important in regards to how they see/saw themselves +/or how the public see/saw them! ie

Prince Buster said that to call a sound 'HiFi'
would mean that the sound WASN'T particularly heavy.
The most famous UK sound to carry the 'HiFi' was/is
Fatman HiFi who never focused on being the heaviest
but on being the clearest.

Sounds like Wha Dat or Gemini who called themselves 'Disco'
who were rub-a-dub sounds but using the double 'discoteque'
turntable style popular with many of the Jamaican based sounds called themselves 'Disco' for a reason.

Java sound who started as 'Java' moved onto become
Java Hi-Power, which they were definately well known for
being a HEAVY sound then they chose to use the brilliant
name 'Java Nu-Clear Power'

What amazing vibes! Jah Sufferer!

I think sounds like Jah Sufferer should play more. Great tunes and great mic skills! Clap

I bet some lucky people have lived and witnessed the time when sound systems were super nice and it was about more than just loudness!

edit. Great lineup and it seems only few people attended! Thats a shame!
