not really a blast but a couple-a good outings.  the co-conspiritors & i had a couple of late-night/early morning sesions to iron out teething problems.. Both tests were in fairly unsurprising places along the infamous north-south valley in London.  Prolly recognise 1 place if you're from round ere Wink (or there, from where i'm posting...)
First test was with a little 2.3KVA (actually 1.7 continuous) second was with a 6.5, but limited to 16a single phase (got a good 255-260v 18a cont. before it tripped, so managed to clip two behringer2500's going into the bass box easily.
Only managed to test 1 bass box & 1 mid, but even one bass box on its own is utterly phat (basically 4 punishers squeezed into 1 box.)  It laughs at the output of two clipping behringer ep2500's (the cooling panels on the speaker only get luke warm) and seems to not need a high pass at all, even with pretty deep bass.  The ciares appear utterly bulletproof, but i'm sure once they get close to their program power then it'll be time to keep an eye out for over excursion/overheating..  Bass box is 4xciare 12.00sw's BTW
The mid-high is absolutely gorgeous, even without sufficient rear chamber damping.  It only got about 1/3 of its rating, but was sounding very defined.  It's loaded with 2xp-audio sn12bs & 1 beyma cp750ti.  beyma driver sounds really quite good for 2" i reckon...
When i get back to the UK in september the system will get finished off slowly but surely.  Its likely 1 bass box & two mid-highs will get out n' about over the summer, two of the other guys here will prolly use them a few times b4 i get back.  Maybe get another bass-box loaded too.. problem so far is getting a big enough genny with a single output, so we can use the 3p distro and cable decently..

the mid-high fell off the bass box here & annihilated a toolbox behind it.  No damage to the box except a few scratches LOL..  The bass-box was literally sliding a few mm every bass-beat..  Maximum speaker excursion looked to be about 25mm p-p on some really heavy rolls with no high-pass.  Really punchy bass (i'd say) for a such a big box,  absolutely the opposite of a labhorn..  I'll get flamed for saying it, but it sounded OK (IE useable for typical party punters up to 400hz hehe, maybe Mr Edgar knew his reflectors better than i'd expected...)
Too many rattles at the moment from loose screws & loose handles to really get to grips with real-world distortion levels tho.  thx to Adam, Dennis & Ben  for lugging the genny n' boxes & Melina, Uri, Paulina, Jess & the others for spectating all night so patiently Tongue

few vidz here too (eventually, takes an age to upload):

PS the boxes here have about 3 coats of hand painted aldcroft on them, still got to do a couple-a final coats & a good splatter coat...

Great stuff! Ultracompact as well.

I spy a modified BDEAP with 2x the amount of drivers...never understood how they worked anyway, does anyone have a link to the whitepaper?

What are your midtops exactly? I recall some older posts stating that they were based on the MT102, except with special phase plugs.
Away on extended leave.

very nice! what's the dispersion like on the midtops, are you gonna use them one per side or will you be able to array?

Yep i had the 1850 powered club + ravehorn :)  In fact i'm actually in Brasil at the mo & next month i'll be off to a hearing to try and recover some of the outstanding payments after i sold the place 2yrs back!  I'm returning to the sub-tropical thames valley in september tho.
The design is a bdeap on steroids, its 20cm wider & taller & the drivers mount differently.  The design is meant to be used in pairs, so they'd form a roughly 3.5m horn with a mouth large enough to go to 40hz outdoors loud, but compact enough to fit a 30+Kw system in a long wheel base transit Wink  There are rough plans lotsa build pics on the photobucket pages.  The mid-highs are kinda based on the porn-horn (roughly the same physical parameters for the horns except the dispersion was designed to be as high as poss with the limited space, the top-horns are p-audio 4320's which claim 120degrees horizontally.  They were designed to play along side two bass-boxes (they'll actually be at least 5db or more below the bass boxes, but thats not a prob for the music they'll play.)  Walking around one mid-top seems to give acceptable coverage over 90degrees or so.
I'll only make 2 of these mid-tops for the time being,  they could be arrayed, but not at the cabinet side-angles, i'd say 50-60 degrees apart would be about OK (swapping the driver horn for smaller dispersion & crossing higher would make a box more suitable for arraying.)  At about 140ish hz the dispersion of the mid-horn should match up with the top, but i've not really payed too much attention to this really.  The main aim was a really compact & loud system.  It's a pretty stylized & complex build for the mid-tops, if i were to have built 4 or more i'd prolly have made a mould of the first box & then made the horns out of fiberglass & simplified the box.  These are about as light as they can be for the output..

cheers,
  Rob.
