I have (well Rog has actually) clipped an ep2500 into one... light pretty much on constantly.. SN12B loaded... still sounded fine (clip limiters were engaged).

I know that's nothing to go by... not exactly a serious amp (think thats about 350wrms?).

For modeling pornhorn's it might be interesting to know the front chamber size but it's common sense to model it as small as possible. IIRC Rog noted that the rear chamber should be as small as possible and preferably even a bit smaller. Meaning it will be harder to get over-excursion as a better job on the latter is done.

thanks, have put a model together based on these dimensions. comes out pretty close to measurement except a big dip around180Hz. tried changing front and rear volumes and T factor but can't get rid of it. are you sure about the size of the phase plug? looking at the diagram on http://www.proaudioparts.co.uk/pornhorn.asp the throat looks well less than half the cabinet width - about 28cm diameter and the plug less than 14cm diameter...

Hi all,
I see your PM snowflake, you're right throat is quite larger I've corrected the value. I calculated it from the plot posted by rog, the diameter is 26 cm. However I search to model it on hornresp but it's really difficult. For 2 reason Hornresp model round horn, the throat and the compression chamber belongs to the phase plug and there isn't plot of that.

thanks, I will try modelling again with a throat of 400cm2. if the front chamber is very small the precise value does not matter. I will try some different rear chamber sizes and post the results up. if i can't get near the measured response I will try altering the expansion rate.

uhmmm for mid and tops just model a cylinder on the driver dimension, (driver depth+some cm)×(external driver diameter/2)^2×3.14. A bowl have less volume so I moltiplicate the result with a factor of 0,8 - 0,7.
