Classy looking boxes, Tony!
Are those the Jamos you were talking about on the other thread at FSP? Because if they are, imo, they sure look ugly as... |

Them's the buggers. I know you probably will not believe it but they do sound rather nice. They break all the rules in that the 15"ers in both cabs do up to 2000hz and then the P.Audio comp. (its actually the Behringer copy) do the top end.
The bass drivers seem to be more a hi-fi driver than a heavy duty type though as it starts getting very woofly with not many watts up it. Tony |

They are BMS drivers. Any high quality 8" Mid/Bass driver would do.
I built a pair many years ago using Eminence Beta 8's + APT tweeter that worked quite well. What makes of high quality drivers can you get in Argentina? Tony |

Quoth Matias:
It all depends on how much you are willing to spend... B&C 8PE21 and 18Sound 8M400 are of the best of the market, and luckily you can buy them here, at aprox. USD200 each... from the xtro plans use only de 8" horn section, and then you can use something like a JBL2370 horn for the driver (paudio makes a good clone)... also, between the subwoofer and the 8" you should have some intermediate cab, such as a 2x15" or 2x12"... obviuosly, i am assuming you will use an active crossover... |

If you can get 18 Sound drivers then the 8MB400 (not the 8M400) would do very nicely. If you use drivers optimised for reflex use then you will end up with a box that can be used for certain stand alone applications.

Have a look at the P.Audio SN8MB if this performs like its 10" brother it could be just the job.
It is a little down on efficiency and power rating compared with its peers but not enough to worry about. Tony |

One word of caution if you use the p.audio drive units; the specifications on the web page are not always up to date. I built some cabinets using two SN10MB drive units based on the published specs which didn't match those of the delivered drive units.
The final loudspeakers shown below sound well despite the small hicup. The 10” cones are matched with the p.audio BM-750 2” compression driver and PH3223 horn |

wow, thats surely goes well, i think in more lithle than that, i have the p.audio driver bmd-750 with two 15", and they´re very loud! this boxes that you make we have to take double 18"´s subs for the system.
