Ted, im struggling to find some bassbins im happy with for my JRXs too... Briefly considered the JRX118....but now thinking of a pile of HDs (again.....I ALWAYS seem to come back to HDs.) I dont need to go lower than 40hz....but need the ''kick'' the HDs can provide... mmm......gonna be thinking a lot this xmas, and getting some plans togeather in the new year. Even thinking maybe scoops??!!! |

Bit lacking in bass and low mid, but they work well enough as mid tops. With a little eq they sound ok to me for the money.

no probs Rus....
In answer to your question, I think they are great for the money. Mine are turning into proper little workhorses. I did a few pubs reggae gig with them recently, and the feedback was impressive. (I just left them there all night, and was curious how they'd fair without any adjusting/processing all night) I powered then off Crest 2000 http://www.music123.com/Crest-Audio-CD-2000-2000W-Power-Amplifier-481647-i1391908.Music123 Gave em a good 700watts a cabinet with only EQ processing for 12 hours, and they stood the test. (low cut at 38hz, bit off a boost from 45-80hz, and a 2db trim from 10-16Khz, high cut from 16Khz upwards). I could hear the 16K upwards was missing, but as the pub has 4 x Apart Mask6 speakers, being powered to 150watts each, being flown in each corner of the pub room: They filled the gap well. Only done a few pub gigs with em, and as part of a festival chilout rig (with Dan Compression, off this forums subs)...and they have nearly payed for themselves in 6 months. .....like I said...they turning into a good set of workhorses. If im to use them for anything bigger than a pub rig again tho, I am going to make the modifications recommended in this thread: A- Change the comp drivers for something that will go to 20Khz, and B- Remove the Passive X-Over, so I can amp the 15s and comp driver seperately. I use a jrx115 in my home rig for kick bass from 70-400 powered with one channel of an rmx 2450. Needs a lot of boost at 70 to cross flat from the sub, then I roll off between 130 & 260 to match the mids.
