Hi all,
tried to sim the RCF lf18 g401 in this cab, sim looked great until I simmed it with 900w going through it. The xmax was all over the place, even at lower power levels. Anyone know what I can do to solve this or if I have got something wrong ? I would use the Neo version of the 401 but I don't have an amp big enough for 1200w a side unless i bridge it. Would really like to use this design with the lf 18 g401 but I'm at a loss as to what to do now. I understand that a hybrid BPH is serious business and hard to design but maybe there is something I can do to make it work ?? searched all around the french forum but got no real answers.

I have some Faital Pro 18HP1060's that model the same as the RCF LF18N401's that it was designed around. They actually has a slightly higher output due to higher xmax. The size and weight of this cab seem manageable, it can be used in singles and its efficiency and output seem to be as high as most other cabs in this size range. It seems to be the perfect cabinet except that I would like it to go a little lower. The current tuning appears to be around 40hz. I have modeled it in hornresp as it is and with the port tuned to 35hz. Tuned to 35hz the efficiency at 40hz drops a few db and it runs out of xmax a little sooner but otherwise still seems to be a very competent cabinet. Other than the 2 noted compromises are there any other issues with the lower cabinet tuning that I am missing?
18HP1060 VS LF18N401 18HP1060 VS LF18N401 Maximum output (1060 is black) Standard vs 35hz tuning (1060) Standard vs 35hz tuning Maximum output(1060) |
