Hi Firstly haven't build any of them. The last picture (green and black painting) pertains to Fabrício, the guy who build some planar horns in past if I remember correctly and post something here too in past about planar.
His post beside that picture is:
In past I've used 12 Whorns(18"), like Keele ones, which I modified adjusting throat and Vb to loudspeaker T/S at hand, and changed position of front ducts (closed front openings), and put them firing directly inside the short horn near the throat (this I do inspired in Mr BF articles in Speaker building magazine). Made so gives a good boost in the response, just where in past it need a eq without any Watt more... Think what a reward: more lows for the same. Other PA owners remain trying to discover what I've done to obtain that response up to date.
All I have to say is that using six WH a side there was no need of eq to have near flat from 40 Hz up... Low cut at 40 Hz helped us to avoid problem with the Gyms roof to play (delayed) with the PA.
At that time I always used Behringer DSP8000 RTA and mic ECM8000 to align the PA to the place... It functions well for me.
Regards,

Probably just as low as 1 goes. because the port dictates the low cut off.
If you put the ports next to each other then the tuning would be lowered slightly, But not too much.

Also i dont see why the horn mouth wasnt designed bigger, it looks like it could have easily been done.... otherwise its pretty good.
@mykey, why wouldnt you want the back of the driver to 'see' the port? Edited by Jake_Fielder - 25 November 2008 at 2:24pm |
