Embarrassed

Anyway, one stepper motor not working on the tilt, seems to be jamming.
Tried to get the mirror off to open it up and see why......one broken mirror.!
With my clumsy thick fingers, i also managed to knock a couple of pins of the IC's when i was checking the board for any problems.
Angry

So now i need a new mirror, a stepper motor - (abstract want £37.50 plus VAT just for this) and a new IC chip for pan tilt....

Looks like i'm going to have to make do with 3 for the time being!

The chip you mean, is it the main ic programme chip or just the stepper motor chip. These are called darlington transistor arrays(???) Ive got a tube of them somewhere. If you send me the number on (ULN.... i think) them ill have a search.

But my local Maplins "dont stock fings like that, specialist stuff innit! Be cheaper to frow it away an buy dis for fifty quid innit!"

Hi.
I have just purchased a stepper motor for my VR8 from Farnell that was posted on the forum.

Does anyone know the wiring from the original to the new Farnell one?

4 colours (red, orange, yellow, brown) are the same on both but old one has green & grey new one has black & white.

I have tried wiring them together & then swapping them but motor doesn't appear to do the right thing.

Can anyone help?

Darren.

The only thing i can suggest to find whigh wire does what is to draw 2 grids like this:

   1 2 3 4
1
2
3
4
where the number represents the colour of the wires. meter out on resistance the different combinations and write the value in the relevent box, do this for both and it will give you an idea as to what is what. been a long time since i've done this but draw four coils in a square with the ends joined.... acctually, Its worth doing a search for stepper motor wiring and you'll find a few useful ideas explained much better...

Hi, thanks for info.
I didnt have a good working motor to compare with so after finding the 2 +12V wires I just mixed the others up until I got something good out of it.

All seems ok.

Cheers
Darren.
