It is linear xmax.
Measured on a dumax machine, but it is helped by the fact that the v4 uses a split coil design. |

Ah, good ol car subs, the worst kind of subs out their. I really don't wanna piss people off, but car subs aren't made for quality sound, they are made to be noise makers. The REAL subs for quality, such as RCF, B&C, JBL Pro etc really are around 10-11 mm Xmax. All car subs are are basically big pistons compressing the air, no quality about that, and cmon, over 50 mm of Xmax? That would probably be the sloppiest sounding sub out their, it can probably play low, but has NO punch since it wouldn't be a quick in and out movement.

As with anything it depends on the music you listen to, and as such you're install would represent that. The XXX as a sub is brilliant.

They actually sound really nice, due to a motor design that maintains nearly as much force at +/- 50 mm xmax as when the cone is at rest.
The BL curve on these drivers is pretty much flat, not parabolic like most subs. Edited by Tip - 27 April 2009 at 4:16pm |

I've got two 15" RE XE subs and love them, haven't heard the XXX but can only imagine they are a worthy big brother to the XE's
