Its a smaller set up than most on here & some of the kit is quite old, but its just right for the application.
The cabin of the car is very small so one 12" sub is plenty for the bass. The boot is shallow & a funny shape so i have to use a ported bass tube to house the driver, very handy having the strut brace there to strap it to. The amp is an old JVC digifine, i have no idea of its power rating but its plenty loud enough. The power cap is 1 farad & it keeps up just fine. The door speakers are the Kenwood factory upgrade offered by Toyota at the time, all three components still sound crisp 14 years down the line. there is also a pair of full range speakers in the rear quarter panels. The signal comes from a very recent Alpine head unit via a pioneer paramic EQ. Edited by Static Age - 29 June 2009 at 8:20pm |

Thanks
The 6x9 stands have faded a bit over the years. I'll tidy them up with a fresh coat of paint soon.

Its the biggest one i think, Its very heavy too. I'll get the model No off it later & do a search.
In terms of output it easily beats newer amps of a similar size. But like i said due to the small space inside the car high spl is achieved without a huge amount of watts.
There is a total of 11 speakers in that small space so the clarity is also very good, well for car audio.
I have a bigger set up in my van, pictured behind the car. Two 600 watt amps, four 6x9's & a large reflex box with two 15" subs. I'll get some pics up.
I have no desire for more gear in my car, horespower is more important than watts in that vehicle. Edited by Static Age - 30 June 2009 at 11:22am |

Thank You ! It's been a long road, mainly cause I'm sorta an anal perfectionist, so even though you don't see it, it has to look just as good under the carpet as it does on top. I did a lotta research during the planning stages and been gathering equipment since Nov 08.
Question:
I have a solid woofer box :
Does this box need to be ported ? Edited by DarkTari - 30 June 2009 at 8:17pm |
