Hello,
How do I wire a DMX cable that goes from 3pin XLR to Stereo Jack? |

xlr is pin1 ground, 2+, 3- jack is tip+, mid -, base ground, like with audio.
some units are sometimes wired differently, but that will be specified in the manual. i just gave you standard wiring.

Pat, please start checking your facts before posting.
For DMX the convention is 1: Ground, 2: Cold 3: Hot. ie pins 2 and three are reversed with respect to audio. For the jack connection (is it an NJD unit by any chance?) it depends on the individual unit because using a jack connection is non-standard. Try an ordinary audio XLR -> balanced jack convertor. If it doesn't work add a phase reverse (swap pins 2 and 3) and try that. You won't hurt anything by having pins 2 and 3 reversed, it most likely just won't work at all or behave oddly. |

+1 If it's for a NJD Datamoon it is wired Tip hot, ring cold, sheild ground (I doubt NJD swapped their system for any other products but you never know...). PS are you sure its a dmx input? 1/4" jacks get used for all sorts in the world of lighting (dc output, strobe trigger pulses etc) be a bit carefull if its a bit unknown. |

It's an Abstract Futurescan II/III Controller which goes XLR to Jack to the first Futurescan II DMX 150 and then stereo jacks between all the heads.
I'm guessing the stereo jacks are for DMX. |

Well the TRS Jacks won't matter but the XLR to TRS might.
