It seems like many widespread drivers work good in MGv3

I couldnt do anything any good from porting it! bearing in mind the longest the port could be is about 90cm, and it coulnt be too large as there isnt much room, i was picturing two tubes going either side of the magnets.
Heres the plots overlayed, the one with slightly better response below 20Hz is the ported one...

It might sound more "scoopy" if ported as the group delay get big around 40Hz when compared to the standart horn design. And excursion is better low down.

Where the porting becomes useful is in controlling excursion by the looks of it then!

keeping this a usable cab my only thoughts are neo...

The BnC 18nw100 and  RCF 18LF N401 only have 9mm xmax - what does this tell you...

edit: 1200watt / 4 ohm

In the real world with a XLim of 52mm how far can you push the driver? Even with porting you are seeing over excusion at the sweet spot - about 13.5mm??

I've been fooling around with porting 1850 horn. Turns out, small port for example backwards in access panel should help control excursion in a way that with 1000W driven into V18-1000, excursion goes over Xmax somewhere around 25-30hz instead of 40-45hz. It adds some 5ms to group delay though and won't go any lower.

indeed but not the case here:

Could someone explain the deal. How far over xmax is safe? I know unless you're putting a perfect sine wave through you're never going to reach true max excusion anyhow. But would be a costly test to try....

I would stop looking at graphs and be more concerned about the throat to mouth PASSAGE, that messy fold after the throat area doesn't look to good

if you want to see a perfect example of a throat exit to horn, look at Minimaxils Terra horn, SMOOTH as a bar of galaxy chocolate
