i've just realised my phone will talk to my computer now i'm running tiger. a host of rig pics will no doubt ensue. here is my rack at a friend's wedding, minus monitor amp. when i bought the case of phil it was full depth for servers or similar so i felt obliged to shorten it by 9". pictures of the back will only be deemed suitable for public viewing when i have bought some more solder and wired the patchbay!

the top one is left, the bottom one is right. both run in 5 way + monitor/ full range fill with eq. they power variations on a theme of the following stacks, this was for a party in a railway arch last night, we had to be very careful not to end up getting painfully loud. second picture is the mid-high pack at the other end of the room.
the system sounded nails. james. |

doesn't it though? pity i took these pictures after most of the decorations had been taken down, fat moon always go the extra distance when it comes to putting a party on and the place was a proper little magic kingdom.
that my friend is the subwoofer that all of you want, just none of you have realised yet. loaded with a pair of beyma lx60 12"s they can happily absorb vast amounts of power and turn it into stupidly nice bass. we'll take the pepsi challenge with any of those x1 owning types, especially the ones who complained their 6th order boxes were too wallowy... we're also fiddling the box design to the same footprint as the martin 215 mkIII so the stack is a little more symetrical, you'll have to hear these at some point ian, certainly the way one compliments a pair of mkIs is staggering. at an outdoor event this summer someone described the kick drum as sounding like a one tonne weight being dropped onto the ground next to them. get in. james. |

That bottom box looks kinda a "mini "mk3 James, does it have the same sort of internal layout as a mk3? Love the midrange horns by-the-way,they look nice and mean! |

very close nexus but not quite. that is a wo32 which is a more conventional
horn cab. the standard wo is a 4th order bp horn hybrid and we believe more suitable for adapting to pa use. the layout is remarkably similar to the mkIII martin though, you're dead right about that ian. rich has been harping on about these things for donkeys, i was never impressed with his first 10" one, or indeed some of the car driver loaded 12" ones, then he started building them with beyma lx60s in. really i do realise that they need actual measurements to be taken more seriously, but on a scale of one to phat, they are proper porkers. james. |

you can't. they work by magic. just as you cannot model for the small lumps of orgonite which were on top of the speaker stacks at that party, yet i am sure they were doing something... the wo does not have velocity discs as standard, the 32 is a bit of an ht speaker really, there is a lot of finicky audiophile bits and mods that rich hasn't bothered with. linking to the plans wouldn't help as the original is a 10" cab. there is more than one way of scaling to fit a pair of 12" woofers in but we aren't yet sure which is the best way. the designer's site has a large forum frequented by many people who have tried lots of variations on a theme of these cabs, scaling up or down to suit their needs with varying success. there is some chap who has a vast pile of 12" pa wos which he reckons will favourably take on a mate's lab horns... find the forum, do some reading, see if it will be useful to you. james. |
