yo!
HAPPY NEW YEAR! anyone know a good place to buy windows xp 64 bit?? It's real expensive in some places, but I found this site: http://www.cheapwindowsxppro.co.uk/?gclid=CLKNiLj6mZ8CFYIA4wodeheGHQ but I'm not sure if I trust it. It is however, almost £100 cheaper than anywhere else, but that does make me a bit suspicious. any thoughts? cheers |

a) Because I like it
b) Because I can't get any of my software to install on vista, I'm guessing due to better security settings against cracked software c) I'm not sure... maybe I should get windows 7, but the only reason I want this software is for a computer I'm making which is designed strictly for the purposes of making dub. All of my dub making software works/installs fine on xp but when I try and install it on vista it throws a wobbly cos it realises they are cracked versions I think. haven't tried on 7 as I don't know anyone with a copy. I'd get 7 if I knew that I could get all the software to work because you can get it for 30 squid can't you? but I'm worried about doing that... |

i think the problem with cracked software that is designed for xp & doesnt work on vista is that they often have modified install files that are pointing to modify a certain file, and that file is in a different place on vista and so it doesnt work properly..

XP SP3 Professional is one of the top 3x OS's MS have ever produced. The other 2x being 98SE & 2000 professional. With worms/viruses/trojans appearing weekly, just doesn't make sense to me downloading cracked version of windows/office anymore. If you shop around you'll find brand new copies of XP Prof, for around £35. There are brand new XP Prof 64 Bit OEM CDs for sale on Amazon/Ebay.
Would strongly suggest you find reputable Computer Fair/Show and get it from there. Does all your hardware have drivers available for XP 64 bit? Is there no music software around for Linux? That platform would "probably" best utilise 64 bitness anyway.... Edited by levyte357 - 10 January 2010 at 8:16pm |

Why don't you just download cracked XP? Seen as you're obviously not against it!
Never heard of Vista detecting cracked stuff myself |

I bought it from here
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/128332 I don't remember paying that much for it- I think it was about £80 when I bought it. I still use XP because it works, and when it goes wrong I know how to fix it, and I don't need a new os.... Edited by PatM - 23 February 2010 at 4:03pm |
